The blooms span about 4 to 6 inches across and stand on a backdrop of dark green leaves speckled with burgundy.
Dr. N. Nopchai Charnsilpa – who also hybridized the popular Wanvisa waterlily – created the Mangkala Ubol variety in 1997.
